Trigger Point Therapy
"Trigger points are discrete, focal, hyperirritable spots located in a taut band of skeletal muscle. They produce pain locally and in a referred pattern and often accompany chronic musculoskeletal disorders."-American Family Physician
Applying pressure to these points can desensitize these pain-generating spots and provide long lasting pain relief.
Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a massage technique focusing on the stretching of not only the muscles, but also the fascia (soft tissue that envelopes the muscles).
The soft tissues of the body should be elastic and pliable. This technique aims at restoring stiff, painful tissues to their natural state.
IASTM/Graston

Instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation (IASTM) is a treatment very effective at treating acute and chronic soft tissue injuries.
When applied correctly relief can be achieved by breaking up scar tissue and painful adhesions within the fascia. Graston Technique is the system that I was trained in though there are many others out there.
